Meta Allows Election Deniers – Ads

According to the Wall Street Journal, Meta allows political ads on Facebook and Instagram that question the results of the 2020 US presidential election. Supporters of President Joe Biden criticized Meta on Thursday, accusing the company of seeking to profit from „election denial.“

Meta’s year-long policy update, which initially wasn’t widely reported, was covered in the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday. While the company allows ads that have previously claimed election manipulation, it blocks ads that question the legitimacy of current or upcoming elections.

Insiders report that Meta executives made the decision to allow the ads based on “free speech considerations.”
