US only: Free ChatGPT iPhone app

OpenAI has released a free ChatGPT iPhone app in the US, with an Android version coming soon. The first official mobile app for the language model, competing with other third-party apps using OpenAI software.

The iOS app is currently free and contains no advertising. An optional subscription to ChatGPT Plus is available for $20 per month.

It syncs a user’s chat history across devices and provides the latest OpenAI model improvements.

In addition to text inputs, the mobile app recognizes and responds to voice commands, but can only generate text-based responses.

While the app is currently only available in the US, it will be released worldwide „soon“ according to OpenAI CTO Mira Murati.
