Apple plans to manufacture 86.3 million units of the iPhone 15 series by the end of the year. Foxconn is the leading provider and covers around 58% of all orders. Apple will probably present the new iPhone series at the annual September event.

Manufactured at Foxconn’s Sriperumbudur plant in India, the iPhone 15 models will ship shortly after their Chinese counterparts, bridging the production gap between India and China. Before the launch of the iPhone 14, Indian-made iPhones lagged behind Chinese production by six to nine months.

Amid tensions between the US and China, Apple is trying to diversify its supply chain. After meeting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June, CEO Tim Cook said India represented a „great opportunity“. Apple has already ramped up iPhone production in India, with 7% of iPhones made in India as of April. Meanwhile, other Apple suppliers in India — Pegatron and Wistron — will soon start assembling the iPhone 15 in the country.
