TSMC: Only a slight decline in sales in the third quarter

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC)’s third-quarter revenue decline was smaller than expected due to growing demand from AI companies. TSMC is Nvidia’s main contract manufacturer of AI accelerator chips.

According to Bloomberg, TSMC’s revenue fell 11% year-on-year in the July-September third quarter, reaching $17 billion.

The preliminary numbers still beat Wall Street’s expectations of $16.5 billion.

TSMC, the leading maker of advanced processors for devices like iPhones and Macs, suffered from falling consumer electronics demand after the pandemic, but demand for AI-related chips, particularly for data centers, has boosted key customers like Nvidia.
