SAN FRANCISCO, November 7, 20123
His artificial intelligence startup xAI’s new product is „modeled after The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy“ and „designed to answer questions with a bit of wit, and has a rebellious streak, so please don’t use it if you Hate humor,” the company said in a blog post announcing the launch Saturday evening. “It will also answer tough questions rejected by most other AI systems,” xAI said.
Although xAI is not yet at the level of OpenAI’s GPT-4, it hopes to quickly expand Grok’s capabilities. “Grok is still a very early beta product – the best we could do with two months of training – so you can expect it to get better quickly every week with your help,” said xAI.
“Oh, this will be fun,” Musk tweeted, adding that Grok will be available to X Premium users who pay a monthly subscription fee of $16.

XAi said Grok will access data from Musk’s X – formerly Twitter – to provide „real-time knowledge about the world.“
