NASA engineers have restarted the Hubble Space Telescope. The telescope had gone offline in mid-June due to a computer malfunction, and NASA wasn’t sure if it would ever work again.
The Hubble is a space telescope in low Earth orbit. It was launched in 1990 aboard the space shuttle Discovery. At the time, it cost $4.7 billion.
To date, it has documented more than 1.5 million space observations that have triggered some 20,000 scientific papers.
The NASA administrator said, „Hubble will continue to build on its 31-year legacy and expand our horizons with its view of the universe.“
