According to reports from Geekwire and other media, Microsoft has laid off more members of the editorial team at MSN.com than previously known. In early June, the company cut the positions of 50 contract journalists to replace them with AI. Now former MSN Money editor Bryan Joiner, who was fired in June, has presented arguments in a column that his job cannot be replaced by algorithms.
Whether Joiner is right or not, MSN.com’s automated program recently caused some confusion when it announced a story about Little Mix singer Jade Thirlwall but mistakenly presented a photo of her band mate Leigh-Anne Pinncock.
