iRobot acquires Swiss air cleaning professional

Zurich, 19.11.20211

The American vacuum robot – producer iRobot takes over the Swiss air cleaning professional Aeris Cleantec. The purchase price is said to be in the high double-digit million range.
Aeris – based in Cham, Zug – was founded in 2015 by ETH students Pierre Bi and Constantin Overlack. According to board member Stefan Mühlemann, founder of start-up Loanboox, iRobot became active because of Aeris‘ rapid growth. The smart air purifiers are used in both professional and home environments and find buyers in numerous countries such as USA, China, Switzerland, Australia. Quite obviously, the corona pandemic has given another strong push to the demand.

According to experts, Aeris will further increase its growth after the acquisition and, as one of the leading players in the market, will achieve sales of up to $5 billion. The prerequisites for world market leadership are excellent.
The Massachusetts-based U.S. company said it would add new features to Aeris‘ products and integrate them into its existing ecosystem of connected home robots. The acquisition should „provide consumers with new ways to keep their homes cleaner and healthier,“ says Colin Angle, chief executive of iRobot.
