Samsung achieves record sales in Q4 2021

Seoul, Feb. 2, 2022

Samsung Electronics reported record sales in Q4 2021, driven by strong sales of smartphones, televisions and home appliances. The Korean tech giant’s revenue increased 24% in the three-month period, reaching a record 76.6 trillion won (~$63.6 billion).

For the full year 2021, Samsung reported record sales of 279.6 trillion won (USD 232.5 billion). Despite supply chain challenges, Samsung’s semiconductor business grew 52% year-on-year, boosted by its memory chips.

Samsung reported semiconductor capital expenditures of 43.6 trillion won ($36.3 billion) in 2021, outpacing its peers. In 2021, Samsung will overtake Intel as the top-selling chipmaker, a feat the company also achieved in 2017 and 2018.

Samsung is set to unveil its latest flagship – Galaxy S22 smartphones – at an event on February 9. In addition, more 5G-capable models are in the pipeline for 2022.
