Google lets test language model

San Francisco, 5/12/2022

Google has announced an updated version of LaMDA, its conversational language model, and is asking select users to test and refine it using a new app.

The company unveiled the more sophisticated LaMDA 2 today at the Google I/O 2022 conference. The AI model can engage in „free-flowing“ conversations about most topics and provide intelligent tips and suggestions.

To further enhance LaMDA 2, Google announced the „AI Test Kitchen“ app, which users can download and interact with the AI technology to provide their feedback.

The app is divided into three demos: „Talk About It“ lets users talk to LaMDA to help it learn to stay on the same topic. Users are asked to try deviating from the topic to see how well LaMDA can return to the original topic.

„List It“ asks users to name a topic or goal, which LaMDA then breaks down into subtasks.

In „Imagine It,“ users give the app an arbitrary prompt that begins with the phrase „Imagine if….“ LaMDA then responds with a detailed description based on that prompt.
