Is mind control coming through AI technology?

New York, February 22, 2021

Ethical scientists warn that research that amounts to reading brain activity and then changing it goes too deep into patient privacy. This is the result of a survey by the magazine „Science-News“.

Background: Neuralink, a company founded by Elon Musk, develops devices that are supposed to be able to synchronize the human brain with AI. A breakthrough is now on the horizon in this area. Neuralink introduced a pig named Gertrude last year who had a computer chip in its brain that served as a brain-to-machine interface. In late January, Musk announced that Neuralink had implanted one of his brain chips in a monkey, adding: The animals could now play video games with their minds.

Rafael Yuste, a neurobiologist at Columbia University, pointed out in the journal that scientists could soon be pulling private information from people’s brains – e.g. B. what someone is currently seeing or hearing. According to Yuste, it is also possible to make subconscious thoughts discoverable with the help of technology. For him and other scientists one thing is certain: Our thoughts are no longer free.
