Facebook won’t unveil anything from Oculus Studios at E3

San Francisco, 6/13/2021

Facebook will not unveil any new projects or titles from Oculus Studios during its E3 event next week. Oculus Studios executive producer Mike Doran confirmed this in a Reddit post, though Facebook could still unveil VR titles at E3 that are not published by Oculus Studios.

VR titles being developed by other studios could be unveiled at E3. TechRadar speculates that this could include the first full Quest 2 VR port for the Resident Evil franchise, „Resident Evil 4 VR,“ as well as „After the Fall“ and „Carve Snowboarding,“ among others.

After last year’s E3 was canceled due to the pandemic, it will return as a digital-only event from June 12-15.

In a separate Reddit post, Doran confirmed that Oculus Studios is focusing on long-term projects specific to the Quest 2, though he didn’t reveal what those are.

There’s no date yet for this year’s Facebook Connect, the company’s AR/VR conference where VR games will presumably be announced. The last event, formerly known as Oculus Connect, was held in September 2020.

Meanwhile, Sony has revealed new updates for VR titles ahead of E3. The company is expected to skip E3 for the third year in a row.
