According to statistics from InfoQ, most AI papers at this year’s International Conference on Learning Representations (ICLR) came from academia. Other papers were also submitted by researchers at tech giants.
The conference, held in May, focused on Deep Learning. Google and its subsidiary DeepMind contributed more than 100 papers, followed by Microsoft with 53, IBM with 35, Facebook with 23, Salesforce with 7 and Amazon with 4.
Four of the Google/DeepMind papers received an Outstanding Paper Award.
A total of 3,014 submissions were registered – up from 2,604 in 2020. There were 6,194 submissions compared to 5,622 last year.
In a tweet, Christopher Manning, director of Stanford University’s AI Lab, showed the most popular keywords from the papers, noting an increase in mentions of reinforcement learning.
