Chinese AI and internet service provider Baidu has announced its versatile autonomous minibuses with advanced autonomous driving capabilities.
The Apolong II vehicles are designed for public transport, police and healthcare, and commercial industries.
Baidu claims that the Apolong II vehicles can autonomously handle unprotected left turns, lane changes and crossing traffic lanes.
Apolong II has no steering wheel and features AV technologies that mirror the performance of the Apollo robotaxi.
Apolong II uses Baidu’s vehicle-to-everything and 5G remote driving service. It has been in production since July 2018.
Baidu has already deployed the vehicles in 22 city parks in Beijing, Guangzhou, Xiong’an, Chongqing and Foshan.
