Tesla: Sales and export successes in August

Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory reported record sales and exports of 44,264 Model 3s and Model Ys in August, up 275% year-over-year. 31,379 vehicles were exported, while 12,885 were sold within China.

Local Tesla sales in China increased 9% year-over-year and 33% month-over-month. Tesla exports to Shanghai increased 39% month-over-month.

Tesla lowered the price of the Model 3 in July and launched a cheaper version of the Model Y in China.

In July, after upgrading the Shanghai Gigafactory, production reached 1,800 units per day (1,000 Model Y and 800 Model 3).

Tesla set a new record in the second quarter of 2021 with global sales of 201,304 vehicles.
